The application of Turkey to be admitted as an extra-Regional Observer of the Central American Integration System (Sistema de la Integración Centroamericana-SICA) was approved on 16 December 2014 in the Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of SICA held in Belize.

In this regard, the agreement which will determine the modalities of our observer membership with SICA is planned to be signed during the First Forum of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs between Turkey and SICA, to be held in Guatemala during the term presidency of Guatemala in the first half of 2015.

The establishment of institutional relations with regional organizations occupies an important place in our relations with Latin America region and we will continue to take further steps in this direction in the forthcoming period.
