The Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking Countries (Turkic Council) was founded in Istanbul as a regional cooperation organization, with Nakhchivan Agreement signed on 3 October 2009 by Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic.

So far, both the Turkic Council and the related organizations, the Ankara-based TÜRKSOY, the Astana-based Turkic Academy, the Baku-based Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and the Turkic Parliamentary Assembly have contributed to strengthening the unity and solidarity of the Turkic world, by realizing various projects.

VI. Turkic Council Summit held on 3 September 2018 in Kyrgyzstan with the participation of H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of the Republic of Turkey, where Hungary was accepted as an observer country, constituted an important milestone for deepening the cooperation between the member countries.
